The 7 wonders of stretching!
Stretching…. Take it or leave it? Stretching is actually one of the 3 integral parts of a training unit, as it helps muscles return to a state of rest, after the intensity of the workout. That way, the muscle can produce more power at the next training! Although stretching is usually done at the end of each workout, it can also be done as a separate workout. Before you begin , do a proper warm up. Then your muscles will be ready to stretch to their full extend, minimizing the chance of an injury.
7 reasons that will make you love it
- Flexibility: Flexibility equals functionality. Your body moves easier and more effortlessly.
- Calmness: During stretching, your muscles expand and your body relaxes. At the same time, your mind relaxes and you feel calmer.
- Better sleep: Having more functional and relaxed muscles will also help you maintain a better sleep quality.
- Pain reduction: If you’re in pain, you may be experiencing some sort of muscle shortening. Through stretching, you can reduce that pain and gradually eliminate it. Patience and consistency are the key.
- Correct posture: A bad posture could also be indicative of a shortened muscle or certain muscle groups. Shrugged and kyphotic shoulders are a very common issue, so make sure to always stretch your chest and shoulders.
- Avoid muscle injuries: You can injure your muscles in many ways, but especially when you skip detraining.
- Feeling well: That’s not a secret! Stretching relaxes both your body and your mind.
