Meditation in public transportation: Is it possible?

Meditation in public transportation: Is it possible?

Have you ever thought about the hours someone spends on public transportation in case they don’t drive? It could be from 20 minutes to 2 hours a day. No consider that, someone wants to start meditation but doesn’t have the time.   Well, we have the solution! A clever way to fit meditation in your daily schedule is practicing on your way to work or returning home, as there are not many things you can do to kill your time except from listening to music or reading a book.

How it works:

  • If you are not too shy to meditate around other people, then start by finding a silent spot. The only thing you can’t avoid is public announcements.
  • It would help if you sit down, but if that is not possible you can also stand.
  • Close your eyes. Make sure to bring your bag in front of your chest to have it under control.
  • The duration of the meditation depends on how long it takes you to reach your destination. If you have 15 – 20 minutes it is more than enough. Be careful not to get lost in the process, because you might relax too much and lose your stop.
  • Basically, you want to clear your mind and focus on your breathing.
  • Don’t get disappointed if this doesn’t work the first few times.
  • You can use some apps with guided meditation to make the process easier.
