Wishing for longevity? 5 night habits that promote it

In a previous article, we mentioned how habitants in the so-called “Blue Zones” such as Ikaria, Sardinia, Okinawa start their day and have a record of living up to 100 years without any serious health problems.  Morning healthy habits are not enough. These people also have some night “secrets”, that will be revealed below.

They have a sleep schedule

Super-agers have always had a fixed sleep schedule. They go to bed at a certain hour and get out of bed in the morning at almost the same time every day. It has been found that people who have irregular sleep schedule, may have extra weight, high body mass index, higher blood sugar levels and elevated blood pressure. They are also more likely to have a stroke, as well as suffer from stress and depression.

Sleeping adequately

A consistent sleep schedule is not enough. It is also very important to get 8-10 hours of sleep every night to refresh the body and the mind. Adequate hours of sleep are good for our metabolism, boost the immune system, give us energy and improve cognitive function.

They find time to destress

Ikarian residents have established their midday siesta. In other areas of the Blue Zones, people take a walk, read a book, have a relaxing drink. Basically, they try to find time to relax and eliminate the stress that is often responsible for insomnia.

Avoid eating late at night

Generally, residents in the Blue Zones eat their dinner relatively early and then do not consume anything else until the next day in the morning.

They drink wine

Did you expect that? I certainly didn’t! Research that took place in the Blue Zones has proven that a glass of wine alongside a tasty meal and good company has miraculous effects! The wine is mostly red, which is proven healthy for the human heart.             Become healthier and learn everything about exercise & nutrition – only at Base Training Academy              Ariana Davila  Source: www.wellandgood.com        Seminars Recent Articles
