Watermelon seeds: The unpopular superfood!

Watermelon seeds: The unpopular superfood!

Watermelon is considered the “king” of summer fruits! It is refreshing, hydrating, low in calories, plus it contains many nutrients and vitamins.  The only “bad” thing about it ;  those annoying black seeds that always get in the way…  But maybe that’s not so bad after all?  These eye rolling pits are actually a superfood that is unknown to most people. To be exact, take a look below.

Watermelon seeds contain:

  • potassium
  • magnesium
  • copper
  • selenium
  • lycopene
  • iron
  • folic acid
  • protein
  • vitamin B
  • zinc
  • fat
  • citrulline

How to consume them

Of course, you can eat the seeds along with the watermelon, but we have to suggest some better ways to consume them in order to get all their nutrients. So, the first thing you have to do is wash the seeds and leave them in the sun to dry. Then you will roast them in the oven for about 20 minutes. You can add a little salt and eat them as a snack. Alternatively, you can add them to your cereal or to your salads.  You can also make a drink. You need to grind 4 tablespoons of fresh watermelon seeds and boil them in two liters of water for 15 minutes. Consume this drink for 2 days and then stop for 1 day. For best results repeat the process for 1-2 weeks. Learn everything you need to know about nutrition – only at Base Training Academy Ariana Davila  Seminars Recent Articles
