Are you suffering from anxiety disorder?

8 tips that will help you!

When you suffer from social anxiety disorder, you know that dealing with people isn’t the most pleasant thing. You may feel nausea, trembling, dizziness, physical pain or the constant fear that someone will critisize or reject you. Therefore, it affects lots of everyday tasks such as:

  • Interacting with your colleagues
  • Visiting the super market
  • Eating in front of people
  • School
  • Love dates
  • Making new friends

Managing social anxiety disorder is not that simple, but that doesn’t mean that it is not manageable.   Things that will help you  1.Visit a psychologist  Most of us may have the impression that anxiety disorder is something natural in our everyday life, but the truth is that it is a mental illness and you can’t always deal with it all by yourself. If you feel like you need some help, don’t hesitate to turn to a proffesional for advice.   2.Find which situations make you nervous  You may get nervous when the teacher picks you up to solve an exercise at school or when you pick up the phone to order food. It’s all about recognizing what makes you feel that way. Once you realize that, you’re one step away from the solution.  3.Don’t overanalyze  The point here is to not overanalyze the situation before it happens. You’ll see that if you let things roll on their own, you’re going to feel more comfortable and that there is completely no reason to overthink it at all.  4.Baby steps make the difference  Don’t have the impression that from one moment to another you’ll be able to make a speech in front of a bunch of people without feeling any stress. But you can definitely get there step by step. Next time you go at the grocery store try to chit chat with the cashier. If you’re still in school, next time you go to class try to raise your hand or joke with your classmates. You’ll see that this is going to be a great boost for your confidence!  5.Rehearse  Yes, you read well! You can use your friend, your parent or your sibling to practice all the things that make you nervous via role playing. You’ll see that after that, you are going to feel more fluent and more confident than you expected.  6.Do relaxation exercises  Most of the times, anxiety disorder comes with physical symptoms as well, such as sweating, rapid heart beat, shortness of breath, stirring etc. So if you don’t want to experience all these unpleasant symptoms you can meditate and do relaxation exercises on a daily basis.  7.Do acts of kindness  A survey that took place in 2015 studied 115 students who suffered from social anxiety disorder. These students did good deeds for 4 weeks straight and started feeling less anxious. They felt more confident and acceptable. So we suggest that you start doing some good ASAP!  8.Reduce alcohol  Ok, we all know that a glass of wine (…or two) helps us relax. But if you need alcohol every day in order to relax and destress, you’re going to need more and more of it everyday. Keep in mind that large amounts of alcohol can intensify our negative emotions and make us feel even worse. So try to keep it under control.   Seminars Recent Articles
