Are your habits affecting your health?

Are your habits affecting your health?

We all have some habits. Some of them are innocent and do not cause problems, but others can be dangerous for us and our health. For example, if you keep cracking your knuckles you may have swollen hands and over time you may not be able to hold things in your hands. This is because when you crack your joints then the fluid that exists between them, the synovial fluid,  which keeps them together and helps them move is disrupted. If you bite your nails you can damage your teeth and the skin around the nails resulting in an infection. Also, our fingers carry a lot of germs so if you put them in your mouth you are more likely to get sick. If you bie your nails due to stress then try to find other, more painless ways to overcome it. If it’s just a habit then do manicures more often! If you listen to loud music with headphones then there is a chance that you will lose part of your hearing as you get older. Turn down the volume and do not listen for many hours a day. Hearing loss is also associated with thinking problems and brain function. If you drink a lot of alcohol during the week (14 glasses for men and 7 for women) then you may have problems with the liver and pancreas, with digestion, heart, bones and some types of cancer. Research has shown that moderate alcohol consumption, one glass for women and two for men, reduces the chances of these diseases. If you forget the floss after brushing your teeth, then plaque can form on your teeth which will lead to dental cavities. If the plaque is a lot then you may also have gum disease which is associated with other health problems such as stroke, diabetes and heart problems. Giota Florou Source: www.webmd.com Recent Articles
