Heart health: The innocent habits that cause damage

Heart health: The innocent habits that cause damage

You may have been doing as much exercise as needed, watch your diet (bye, bye french fries!) and learned ways to manage your stress, but that does not mean your heart is as healthy as you think. There are certain habits that we have which seem innocent butultimately affect the heart much more than we can imagine.

You do not eat breakfast

A cup of coffee is never enough. It does not give you the necessary nutrients, nor the energy you want for your day. It also harms the heart. A 2019 study by the American College of Cardiology proved that those who ate breakfast had cleaner and healthier arteries than those who did not eat at all.

You watch a lot of TV

The same study found that  more than 21 hours a week in front of a screen strains the arteries and is slowly “killing” your heart.

The working environment

If you don’t like  your boss and generally have a lot of stress at work then the chances of having heart problems increases by 50%. Also, spending 55 hours a week working increases your chances of stroke.

You don’t eat fruit

A 2016 study of 600,000 participants found that those who ate fresh fruit each day had lower blood pressure than those who ate no fruit at all.

You do not laugh as much as you should

Laughter is not only good for the psychology but also for the heart. A 2019 study from the Medical Center of the University of Maryland found that laughter increases the size of blood vessels and the blood flow to the heart. Giota Florou (source: www.bestlifeonline.com) Recent Articles
