Immune system: Which habits are making it weak?
The pandemic is still here and winter is on its way. We all want to have a strong immune system so as to ‘fight’ all the viruses and germs. Maybe this means that we need to change some (bad) habits and our way of life in general. Below you can discover the habits and all other things responsible for a weak immune system.
Lack of sleep
When you do not get enough sleep your body can not produce large numbers of cells that “fight” viruses and the proteins called cytokines.
Stress
Even your anxious thoughts can weaken your immune system. If you are suffering from chronic stress then you should definitely talk to a doctor about your problem.
Vitamin D deficiency
You need it not only for strong bones but also to improve your immune system. You can get the vitamin from the sun and also from foods such as eggs and fatty fish. Medication
Some medication that treat allergies, arthritis, lupus, also the corticosteroids and the medicine for cancer can have a negative effect on the immune system. There could be other drugs that treat the same conditions so talk to your doctor for a replacement.
An unhealthy diet
A diet high in fat that doen’t include fruits and vegetables does not allow your body to create the conditions for a healthy immune system.
Smoking
Nicotine and all the other chemicals you inhale weaken the body’s natural defense mechanisms.
Alcohol
If you overdo it with alcohol, then your body can not act properly to restore itself in case you get sick.
Sadness
If your mood is not good at all for a long time then your immune system is affected.
Lack of exercise
Especially aerobic exercise has positive effects on your body because the blood circulates in the body and all the substances and cell that fight disease go where they should. Giota Florou (source:www. webmd.com) Recent Articles
