Foods you should consider avoiding before exercise 

 Not all foods are appropriate to be consumed before a workout.  

See below what you should not be consuming every time you want to hit the gym.

Protein bars or granola 

You might be thinking it’s a good choice but it actually isn’t.  They ‘re promoted as healthy but both of them are full in sugar and benefit your body in 0 ways .  

Vegetables rich in fibers 

Yes, your body needs fibers, just not before the workout. What you need to remember is that those vegetables can’t be easily absorbed. This will make you feel uncomfortable while working out. We suggest that you avoid vegetables like broccoli, Brussels sprouts and cauliflower. On the other side, feel free to consume well-cooked asparagus or potatoes before training.  

Full fat foods 

And by fat, we mean both the good and the “bad one”. Your body needs to ‘’work’’ hard to turn fat into energy. You will be tired even before you actually start to exercise. 

Yoghurt 

You should always read the tags correctly. If there’s a lot sugar and fat in it, then you should probably avoid it. Also, if you have sensitivity in dairy products, then you might not be able to finish your workout.  

What you shouldn’t drink 

Energy drinks and smoothies might seem like a good idea to you, but in fact they contain ingredients that might cause you nervousness and increase your heart beats and pressure. If you really want an energy drink though, you can have it after the workout. Smoothies might as well contain too much sugar and calories. In a few words, try avoiding soft drinks like coca cola. The only thing you ‘ll get is sugar and calories you don’t need and just a small amount of energy from the caffeine.

-Even if your goal is weight loss, don’t work out on an empty stomach. 

-As the experts say, choose carbohydrates and protein in order to take energy and help your body ‘’build’’ muscles. For example, some peanut butter and banana on a cracker, a small cup of almonds with dried grapes, or a boiled egg would be the perfect option!  

-Food consumption must be 1-3 hours before working out.

If you definitely want to get an energy drink, then the best time would be after exercise. As for smoothies, they can also contain a lot of sugar and calories. Also, avoid carbonated drinks. All you will get is sugar, unnecessary calories and only a small dose of energy from caffeine.
