Find out why you’re not feeling hungry in the morning

We’ve all heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Some people wake up in the morning and feel their stomach growling.  On the other hand, for some, this is not true at all. They feel like they can’t eat one single bite of food.

Below are six reasons why

Change in hormones

During the night, hormone levels in our bodies change. Research has shown that adrenaline and leptin are at high levels during the morning hours. These hormones have been found to reduce appetite. At the same time, ghrelin, the hunger hormone, is low in the morning.

You ate too much the night before

More specifically, if you consumed a high protein or high fat meal the night before, you may not be hungry in the morning. These ingredients make you feel full for many hours.

You’re expecting a baby

Morning nausea during pregnancy can usually reduce hunger. Also, other symptoms such as indigestion and bloating may occur during pregnancy, which affect the woman’s appetite.

“Confused” metabolism

Your metabolism works only when you activate it with food. If you don’t eat, it’s going to stay deactivated. This is what happens when you sleep. That’s why, according to experts, breakfast is an important meal, because it kickstarts metabolism.

The power of repetition

If your body is used to zero food in the morning, there won’t be any hunger alert upon waking.

Meds

Certain medications such as diuretics and antibiotics may reduce appetite in the morning.

Growing up

Lack of appetite usually happens in older people because they don’t need the same amount of energy to function.

Thyroid issues

If you have hypothyroidism, then you may generally feel like you don’t want to eat that much.  Learn everything about nutrition & get certified – only at Base Training Academy Ariana Davila  Seminars Recent Articles
