Get the “V Shape” you dream of: Everything you need to know!
A wide back, rounded shoulders, and a slim waist create the “V shape” that makes the body look more athletic.
The genetic factors
The truth is that getting the “V shape” is primarily determined by genes. Each person is born with certain characteristics. That fact may prevent some from getting this shape, at least to the full extend. If you have a wide waist, you can acquire this shape by exercising a lot. But it’s not going to be the same as an athlete who has a thin waist and whose ribs naturally create a “V shape”. Whether you are favored or not, only hard work, patience and perseverance will get you there!
What you need to know
It is important to understand that to have a big and “wide” back, round, and well-defined shoulders, you need to work your muscles from all sides. Therefore, exercises such as shoulder presses with bars or dumbbells, shoulder push-ups and push-ups are equally important to get round shoulders.
The 6 ideal exercises
Back
- Pull-ups on the bar
- Pulls ups on the pull-down machine
- Rowing(narrow grip) on the pulley, or with dumbbells, or on a chin up stand
Shoulders
- Arnold press with dumbbells
- Extensions/ Shoulder abductions with dumbbells
- Rowing(wide grip)on the row machine, with a barbell, or with dumbbells
What to watch out for
– Safety first. – Do not rush to perform an exercise. Control the movement throughout. – Perform 8 to 12 repetitions. – Train at 80%. If you can’t do 12 reps with the weights in one exercise, do 10. – Don’t be afraid to fail. Just do it!
So, set the goal for the “V shape” and just execute the plan!
