Base Training created the Sports Nutrition seminar, which is a comprehensive guide on the field of human nutrition, healthy lifestyle and maximum athletic performance.

Nutrition is a very important field related to every aspect of human life including general good health, disease prevention and wellness.

Today, more and more people are adopting a healthy lifestyle, incorporating healthy nutrition habits and exercise into their daily routine. For this reason nutrition education is considered to be imperative, not only for health and sports professionals, but also for those who want to change their eating habits.

Sports Nutrition is divided in 3 Levels and can be taught both live as well as online.

Level 1 studies  human body composition, nutritional assessment methods as well as micro and macro nutrients.

In level 2, different types of dietary interventions as well as principles of sports nutrition are analyzed.

Level 3 addresses clinical nutrition topics including Diabetes, Eating disorders and Obesity.

Five extra workshops are also included in the course including:

  • Diet planning for optimal athletic performance
  • Weight loss & weight control
  • Nutrition support design
  • Food supplements
  • Nutritional intervention in endurance sports
 

FIRST UNIT: INTRODUCTION TO SPORTS NUTRITION

Sports nutrition is starting with an induction into the science of human nutrition. Subjects including the Food pyramid as well as nutrient exchange are discussed, while a detailed introduction to sports nutrition and athletic needs is addressed.

More specifically, 1st level includes:

  • basic principles of human nutrition
  • human body function
  • wellness principles
  • introduction to sports nutrition

Through the first section of the Sports Nutrition Seminar one will get familiar with the basic principles of human nutrition. That includes a detailed discussion about nutrient exchanges, the food pyramid, as well as the healthy eating plate. Applying this knowledge, the fitness professional gets a first idea of ​​both their own, as well as their athlete’s nutritional needs.

The Seminar is addressed to anyone that wishes to comprehend the basic principles of human nutrition, regardless of whether they are professionally involved in fitness training (as athletes, trainees or trainers). This first section of the Sports Nutrition seminar is structured in such a way that one can watch it, regardless of their background studies.

Once you have completed the Introduction to Sports Nutrition course, you will receive an official certificate from base training.

SECOND UNIT: ATHLETIC NUTRITION

The 2nd level of the Sports Nutrition seminar, provides an in depth analysis of both nutritional myths, as well as nutrient and micro nutrient function. Furthermore, it dives deeper into sports nutrition, providing a detailed understanding of how nutrition can be a useful tool in athletic performance and disease prevention. 

More specifically 2nd level includes:

  • Topics from Level 1 are discussed in detail and advanced aspects of nutrition are addressed in order to be used in an athletic level
  • Nutritional Myths are debated
  •  You will learn how to apply nutrition as a shield for good health

Athletic Nutrition, as its own title suggests, is the Seminar that addresses specialized topics of Sports Nutrition. Detailed analyses of nutrient and micro nutrient function, as well as their role in maintaining good health are just bits of what is included in this Seminar.

Once you have completed the Athletic Nutrition course, you will receive an official certificate from base training.

THIRD UNIT: NUTRITION SCIENCE

Within the 3rd level of the Sports nutrition seminar an even greater depth in matters of nutrition and sports performance is addressed. In this context, nutritional planning is designed to achieve maximum athletic performance.

At the same time, there is an introduction in eating disorders and their consequences in modern times.

More specifically Nutrition science includes:

    • Nutrition function in order to achieve maximum athletic performance
    • Specialized and clinical topics including eating disorders, diabetes as well as dietary supplements are discussed

After completing the Nutrition Science course, you will become a Sports Nutrition Specialist, with fundamental knowledge in human nutrition. In this final Level of the seminar, you will enter so specific athletic paths, that you will be able to use nutrition as means to achieve optimal performance of your athlete, while you will also obtain the knowledge of how to use nutrition as a “medicine” for chronic diseases.

 Once you have completed the Nutrition Science course, you will receive an official certificate from base training.
