Symptoms of delayed child development
Usually, children develop a variety of motor skills from head to toe. This is why the pattern of developing motor skills is as the following: gentle and fine motor skills, gentle development of speech and communication and then their further improvement. There are many symptoms that indicate that there is a delay in development.
What is child developmental delay?
The term “developmental delay” is used to describe a condition in which a child needs more time than his or her age-related data to reach normal developmental milestones for his or her age. This condition can include a delay in learning to walk or talk, motor skills, learning new things, and social and emotional interaction with others.
Symptoms of developmental delay
- Fine andgrossmovements
- Clumsy or loose movements in the torso and limbs
- Stiffness in the arms and legs
- Decreased movement in the arms and legs
- Unable to sit without assistance (up to the age of 9 months)
- Inability to withstand and lift (up to 1 year)
- Involuntary movementsinstead of voluntary
- Delay in speech
- Fewer words than expected for their age
- Difficulty in understanding
- Difficulty in using gestures
- Poor hearing
