Team coach: The “ingredients” that lead to success

In recent years, fitness trainers have become more than just indispensable partners of the coach in a sports team.  No matter what kind of team we are talking about, the fitness trainer is the person who informs the coach about the athletes’ condition, their recovery  and what each athlete needs to improve individually.

The key elements to success

Vision

Passion The number one key to success is to love what you do. A fitness trainer has several requirements, so if you choose this career, you have to be willing to constantly keep up to date with new facts, adapt to new groups or even countries and create your own database.  Target You need to set a goal. The goal should be realistic and time-bound. As trainers, two of our most important target tasks should be to keep our athletes from getting injured and to improve their performance.    For example, if we have an athlete recovering from a torn ACL, then we know that they cannot compete for at least 1 month.

Structure

Professionalism  The worst thing that can happen to any trainer is to be unaware of their role in the team. In other words, to know the hierarchy of the team and who you report to.  Everyone wants to contribute, but at the same time, they want to feel important within the team. Proper and constant communication of a coaching team is the best feedback to our athletes.   For example, if we notice a decrease in the performance of our best player, we should first discuss with the player. If he reports that he feels fine, we discuss it with the coach. If he states that he wants him for the upcoming game, we turn to the doctor. Then he may notice, for example, that the player is dehydrated. So there is our answer!  Mindset   It is important to get out of your comfort zone, adapt to new circumstances and learn how to cooperate. When the team is competing, the players and the coach step out of their comfort zone to face the opponent.  So in order to create a clear vision and structure as trainers, we must build our own mindset through courage, decisions, and action!  Become a great team leader through Base Training’s seminars   Ariana Davila  Seminars Recent Articles
